Samsara is the story of Terris, a normal girl with the slightly abnormal (and thumpingly useless) ability to decipher texts left behind by a long-dead civilization called Rogathel. She's bored with her life without caring enough to actually do anything about it, until one day a childhood friend arrives and offers her the chance to embark on an adventure beyond her wildest dreams - and nightmares! 

Page 1-5

Well, that didn't take forever at all.

Seriously, this page just isn't worth any sort of wait. The paneling, the lineart, the inking, the toning: EVERYTHING REEKS OF FUGLY. It makes my soul hurt.

The reason this took so long is that when I started this page, I didn't have Cresta's or Avender's character designs finalized (what a stroke of genius: starting a webcomic without even having designed all of the main characters). But now they are, so that's good. Now I just need to do Dil and those other two guys I haven't even named yet - though, fortunately, they don't show up in the story until considerably later.

I have some concept sketches I need to post sometime soon, too. Hoo boy! I'm a busy beaver. Maybe I'll get some of the lineart for the next pages done in art since we're basically doing nothing in that class from here on out.

By the way, if anyone's having problems hearing the music on the homepage of the website, it could be due to one of two reasons:
1. The song is rather soft - you might have to turn up your speakers to hear it.
2. It only plays on the homepage, and it might take a while to load.

One of these days I'll try to get up some kind of interesting graphic up there so that looking at the front page isn't so thumpingly boring. Ah ha.

Splash Page 1

I know, I know. WHAT MINAMI THAT'S JUST TEXT YOU ARE SUCH A LAZYASS. I am; I'm not gonna lie. And as some of you already know, I did have another splash page made from quite some time ago - you know, one with an actual picture. But after thinking about it, I decided I wanted to use that as the splash page for the next chapter instead, as this first chapter will serve more as an intro to the Samsara's plot as opposed to Terris herself.

Oh yeah, the protagonist's name is Terris now. Runis somehow just wasn't cutting it for me for several reasons:
2. I didn't really like how it sounded.
3. Her spells, when spoken, are written out as runes, and that just made "Runis" feel a bit corny to me.
4. "Terris" has just a teeny tiny bit of mythological significance which is very slightly, loosely tied to the plot somehow.
1. The character was more or less a clone of my old roleplay character "Terris" anyway, and no matter what I did, I couldn't stop thinking of the webcomic character as "Terris". I initially gave her the name "Runis" in an attempt to differentiate between the two, but I don't think there's a need for that anymore since...well, I don't use Terris in the roleplay anymore anyway.

Page 1-4

I was dreading doing the blanket - I'm never even drawn draped cloth, but if you look closely at the way I draw clothing you'd notice that I just suck at anything cloth-related in general. But it turned out better than I expected, and I actually had a lot of fun with it! I won't be able to update for a while since I'll be on spring break, but hopefully I'll be able to get a lot of work done on a new page or two, so when I get back I can update right away.

ANYWAY

Page 1-3

Sorry for the late post! I know I said I'd post this earlier in the week, but clearly I'm a filthy liar. The page took longer for me to tone than I expected. The fire was especially obnoxious and by the time I realized that there ought to have been more of it in the second panel, I was too fed up to do anything about it. So yeah.

It's kind of annoying that the comic starts off seeming way angstier than it's actually going to be, but what can you do? I promise the next page will be a bit more fun.

Speaking of which, page 4 is still in the pencils/inking stage. Maybe I'll finish that sometime this week and get back into my post-once-a-week groove.

So I guess the updates will be two pages a week as opposed to one... I started this less than a week ago and I've almost finished 4 pages by now, which for me is pretty amazing.

The aforesaid 4th page is actually just the chapter's splash page. You can see it on my dA account here. It'll be posted to the actual comic after the 3rd or 4th page.
